Mermaid     She sat on my stoop every Sunday morning, scratching her rash speckled calves with dirt infested nails and destroying the bird nests in her faded green hair with her claws. Two bibles struggled against the cheeks of her hemp bag and poked their ragged corners out of moth bitten holes. The dimples in her cheeks reminded me of my aunt, and they bent in whenever she flashed her rotted roots at me. She stopped scratching when I climbed the steps and commenced as soon as I shut the door behind me. I could watch her draw blood from my apartment window.

My birthday lands on a camel’s hump, between its head and its behind. That’s what my sister tells me, those exact words said with a leer over her magazine. Erotic Lit on dA

What are your thoughts about erotic literature, especially in regard to erotic lit on dA?

I realize that there are some very good erotic stories out there. I’ve had a book of erotic short stories in my hands (mysteriously found in a sibling’s bookcase) and it wasn’t half bad. That was a collection of published writers. Before being put into print, their work was given the :thumbsup: from the publisher, the editor, and god knows who else. DeviantArt, and other sites, don’t have that quality control. What we find on the internet are various forms of yaoi, smut, and porn-in-print, the same material we find on certain shelves when we’re looking for it. Obviously what we are missing is the quality control. On the internet, “erotic literature,” can be used to mean many different things. Plot, no plot, sex, very little sex, grammar, no grammar at all… there are no limitations.

If you look for it, you can find some truly revolting erotic literature on dA, and with the same freedom applied to that category, you can find some very neatly put together lit. A couple of years ago, I found two stories in the erotic lit gallery, one involving spiders and the other about cows, which I still remember with perfect clarity (Unfortunately.) The thing is that some people are looking for that. For this journal, I delved into the erotic lit category to get the feel of it, and I found a few more stories I probably won’t forget. Porn, sex, good/bad writing, and creative freedom can be controversial subjects, especially when combined. They can lead to many different questions. What can erotic literature be used for, is it art or porn, where do you draw the line, is there even a line, is skill part even important, and why?

I love that style. The art is very complex, but the arrangement is simple. But keep Gustav Klimt plastered over your front page. You can't get much better that goldish and swirly. Reminds me of a Greek myth. I sort of want his robe. >.>
